Iron Radiations in the Blood
In lecture five of the Agriculture Course, when discussing the nettle preparation, Rudolf Steiner mentions that Stinging Nettle carries “a kind of iron radiation that is nearly as beneficial for the whole course of nature as the iron radiations in our blood are for us”.
The following readings discuss the healing power of iron within the blood, firstly from a more physiological point of view, then from a more soul-spiritual point of view.
In the medical lecture Rudolf Steiner is discussing the place of mineral based medicines in the human being. The mineral’s crystallizing forces are similar to the formative forces in plants. But is only the human ego which works down into the mineral element. The forces within iron heal the effects of the human ego on the blood. The fallen nature of the ego brings illness to the blood, which needs to be constantly healed.
